A homeless hound at Blue Cross pet charity is feeling very unloved after waiting more than 500 days to find a new home.
Eight-year-old Kenny, who is being cared for at the Blue Cross rehoming centre in Burford, Oxfordshire, has seen almost 3000* dogs go off with new families in his 17 months at the charity.
The collie cross Staffordshire bull terrier was admitted to Blue Cross in February 2014 when his owners had to move house and could not take him with them. Since he arrived, the lonesome pup has been overlooked by over 13,000 potential new owners who have enquired about rehoming a Blue Cross dog.
Jenna Martyn, Centre Manager at Blue Cross in Burford, said: “We think Kenny may get overlooked because of his breed. It’s such a shame as he’s a lovely dog and staffies can make fantastic pets. They love human company and cuddles and Kenny definitely has these wonderful staffie traits.”

To break up his time in kennels, Kenny spends time helping out in offices and spends some of his weekends in foster care with volunteers.
Jenna Martyn, Centre Manager at Blue Cross in Burford, explains: “When Kenny first came to us he was very nervous, but our team here have done lots of work with him and now he’s much a happier dog. He’s so fun and very loving – all he wants is to be snuggled up with you.
It breaks my heart no one wants to take him home. We’ve tried really hard to find him a suitable family, but he’s still waiting. There’s no time limit on how long dogs stay with us, but we’d love to see him settled in a new home soon.”
Kenny would like to meet someone who enjoys taking him on walks, but most importantly can give him all the love and cuddles he craves. He is good on the lead, housetrained, enjoys travelling in the car and loves playing in water.
