To inspire people to host a ‘Summer Lights’ celebration at home and raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, npower is supporting its charitable partner of 12 years, in its first ever ‘Summer Lights’ fundraiser.
The nationwide fundraising event encourages people to celebrate the loved ones who ‘light up their lives’ by holding a Summer Lights get together indoors or out, using decorative lights - fairy-lights, candles or lanterns as a key focal point. The idea is for people to invite family and friends over for nibbles and drinks, or dinner – however they like to celebrate, in exchange for a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support. All money raised will help ensure that no one faces cancer alone.
npower has enlisted the design prowess of five style influencers to provide Summer Lights inspiration for the nation’s Summer Lights celebrations. Each of the five influencers will be creating a beautiful lighting look that anyone can easily recreate at home, alongside tips on how to get the look.
Influencers that are working with npower to support the campaign include party planner to the stars Mark Niemierko; lifestyle and parenting blogger Emily Leary (A Mummy Too); Londoner about town Paula Holmes (LDN Diaries); Interiors blogger Geraldine Tan (Little Big Bell); and lifestyle blogger Poppy (Poppy Loves). All are hoping to inspire people to create their own Summer Lights looks.
To give people the chance to win a Summer Lights celebration event pack, which includes a selection of lights to add a touch of sparkle to their get together npower is hosting a social media competition to encourage people to share a photo on social media, tagging @npowerhq, of the person who's the inspiration for their celebration. For every tweet that uses #summerlights, npower will donate £5 to Macmillan, up to a total of £50,000.
For those who’d like tips on how to decorate their Summer Lights event, the npower.com Summer Lights website will be live from the 30th of May to provide a hub of inspiration, where people can learn about the campaign and see the gorgeous lighting looks that have been created by the style influencers.
Clare McDougall of npower said, “We’re thrilled to be working with our longstanding charitable partner Macmillan, for such an important cause. We hope that npower’s style influencers will inspire others to host their own Summer Lights celebrations to raise funds to provide support for people affected by cancer.”
Hannah Redmond, Head of National Events Marketing at Macmillan Cancer Support said: “We’re incredibly excited about Macmillan’s new Summer Lights fundraising event on 25th June and hope it will be the perfect opportunity for people to get together with the loved ones that light up their lives and raise vital funds for people affected by cancer. We’re delighted to have the support of npower and can’t wait to see what the style influencers come up with.”
