New research has revealed that a quarter of Brits don’t think you can buy a train ticket on the day of travel at an Advance price. Instead, half still prefer to book in advance ‘to get the best price’ and 81 per cent think train tickets are more expensive if they are purchased closer to the time of travel.
To help debunk the myth that last minute always equals lots of money, CrossCountry has launched a new last minute train tickets section on their website, that clearly shows savvy travellers how to get the best last minute deals. Subject to availability, travellers can still get Advance fares on the day of travel up to 15 minutes before departure, and with no booking fee.
The new section comes after research also found that just six per cent of people feel ‘quite confident’ finding cheap train tickets and 21 per cent of people still buy their tickets when they arrive at the train station.
CrossCountry Head of Marketing, Clare Shufflebotham said: “Some people differentiate between being a savvy traveller and being last minute – but we don’t. Being a savvy traveller means getting the best deal no matter how far in advance you have to plan. We want customers to have choice and flexibility even if they need or want to book closer to their travel date and to still be able to reserve a seat.
“There is never a booking fee when you book directly online with us and we want to make sure our customers know that booking at the last minute doesn’t necessarily mean paying higher fares.”
The last minute train tickets section enables you to search for tickets either two days day before you travel or on the same day, up to 15 minutes before you travel, filtering by your start and end destination.
