Millions of millennials reckon they have got Christmas ‘mastered’, according to a study.
Researchers revealed one in six think they have already got the festive season down to a fine art, nailing their first Christmas for themselves at the age of 25 on average.
And a third of millennials think their hosting skills rival those their parents displayed during Christmases when they were growing up.
It also emerged one in two enjoy a ‘Matesmas’ – a YuleTide gathering with friends – more than they do a traditional family Christmas.
Saturday 22nd will be the day when most Brits are hosting their own get-togethers.
A survey of 2,000 Brits who celebrate Christmas found nearly one in four are in complete control when the festive season comes around, and one in two reckon they have the elements of hosting a great Christmas down.
The study found it will take until the age of 32 before the average Brit is able to achieve this level of festive mastery when hosting their own Christmas gathering.
Angela Solkesz of premium Single Malt Scotch whisky brand The Singleton, which commissioned the research, said: “Christmas is a large and unwieldy event in our minds, but ambitious millennials are taking up the challenge of surpassing the classic Christmases in their memories.
''Whether it’s gifting the perfect tipple, making sure your guests are having a great time at your party or just managing to gather all your friends together at the same time and place, millennials seem more than up to the task.”
Of all the aspects of Christmas we find easiest to master, over in four Brits think they are great present-buyers.
Alcohol is the most popular present to give between friends, and 30 per cent will treat friends or family to a bottle of whisky this Christmas.
A quarter think Christmas time is the time of year when they are most likely to treat themselves to a more adventurous alcoholic drink or cocktails.
When it comes to festive tipples one in 10 will use the special time of year to buy in a good whisky.
Of the areas of Christmas we find difficult to master, keeping organised, avoiding unnecessary stress and doing the big food shop were considered some of the toughest aspects.
A quarter find it difficult to manage the levels of stress Christmas can bring, and one in eight thought throwing the perfect Christmas party and keeping guests happy was the tallest order of the season.
Solkesz added: “Christmas is a busy time, but it seems millennials have an aptitude for finding order in the chaos.”
Singletons carried out the study with OnePoll to mark the day people most typically celebrate Christmas with their friends.
