A survey of 2,000 office workers found 53 per cent love sharing Christmas cheer with colleagues, while 51 per cent simply love the feeling of their workplace at this time of year.
Others enjoy learning about other people’s cultures during the season and listening to festive music while working.
And 64 per cent appreciate Christmas cheer in the office even more after two years of disruption due to COVID, with 54 per cent excited to be back this festive season.
It also emerged 34 per cent, who are not currently spending five days a week in the office, would be tempted to commute in more to enjoy the festivities.
Simon Venn, from facilities management company Mitie, which commissioned the study, said: “The pandemic gave workers a chance to reassess how much time they spend in the workplace.
"But with Christmas around the corner, it’s hard to resist the festive spirit the office offers.
“It’s great to see so many people enjoy being with colleagues in the office to celebrate the festivities.
"It shows that having a fulfilling work life is as much about having time to come together with colleagues, as the day-to-day role.”
The survey also found 61 per cent think spending time together in the office is a key way of bringing colleagues closer together, with as many as 46 per cent describing their workmates as friends.
While 38 per cent think it’s more important to spend time with their colleagues at Christmas.
Almost two thirds (62 per cent) feel in a better mood at work when it gets near to Christmas, and 19 per cent like being in the workplace around this time as everyone else is happy too.
The festive atmosphere and the Christmas food are also things office workers would feel they would miss out on.
The research, carried out via OnePoll, also found 45 per cent fully embrace the festivities at work by getting involved in a Christmas jumper day.
And 41 per cent bake festive treats for their colleagues.
Simon Venn added: “It’s no wonder people love being at work in December when there’s so much festive atmosphere in the office at this time of year.
"It’s clear that many workers still want the option to work from offices, especially during the Christmas period.
"Spending this time together as a team really helps build those all-important colleague relationships.”
