Two thirds of sports fan are in favour of the likes of VAR, according to research.
A poll of 2,000 adults who watch live sport found 67 per cent believe electric line calling has improved professional games.
More than three quarters (76 per cent) put this down to confidence that it leads to the correct decision (76 per cent) while 35 per cent feel it has made games fairer.
While 39 per cent believe it improves accuracy and 33 per cent even think it adds to the drama.
It also emerged football, tennis and cricket are the top three sports to use the technology most efficiently.
A spokesperson from Lottoland.co.uk, which commissioned the research said: “With all the technology developments we are seeing as a nation, it was only a matter of time before this trickled into sports.
“Our research has shown people do like video replays aiding the important decisions.
“The find it more accurate, fairer and it adds to the drama of the game.”
The research also found that on the flipside, more than one in 10 (13 per cent) don’t appreciate the technology.
Blaming it for slow decision making which disrupts the flow of the game (52 per cent) and a delay in celebrating goals (42 per cent).
While 37 per cent have noticed an inconsistency in the way that it’s used and 29 per cent reckon there is an over-reliance on the tech.
More than a third (35 per cent) also find it frustrating to watch and 24 per cent think it leads to confusing communication with fans and players.
Instead, 29 per cent would prefer to see fast decisions that are sometimes incorrect rather than slow but accurate results.
The research, carried out via OnePoll, also revealed 12 per cent consider it to be ruining the tradition of tennis.
While 60 per cent feel there is improvement needed to the current systems, and one in 10 think it should be scrapped completely.
The spokesperson from Lottoland.co.uk added: “It seems there is still a long way for replay technology to come, before it can please everyone.
“Our results show slow decisions are one of the key bugbears the fans face.
“There are clearly some pros and cons to VAR across the industry – does the need for accuracy really take away from the drama? I think this is something which will always be debated.
“But it does seem like people are growing to love the tech, so maybe the 13 per cent will change their mind eventually.”
