Big Zuu sank his teeth into a bold new sandwich flavour – packed with a Super Noodles filling.
The English musician and TV personality sampled the sub at a London sandwich shop, which is serving up the creation for a limited time.
With tarragon chicken or vegetable tikka masala fillings all housed within a soft sub roll with lettuce – and the instant noodles.
It comes after sarnies containing whacky combinations of ingredients have featured in various social media trends over the years.
While research of 2,000 adults who eat sandwiches revealed the weird fillings they’ve seen squeezed between two slices of bread, including egg and crisps, apple and cheese and even jam and cheese.
The study also found 20 per cent claimed they would likely try a noodle sarnie if it were on sale in a shop.
Big Zuu, who has teamed up with Batchelors Super Noodles and London sandwich spot Dom’s Subs for the collaboration and who will also be hosting a 100 sandwich giveaway, said: “British sandwich eaters love a wild combo – and noodles in a sub roll is next level.
“This is bold, fun and surprisingly banging.
“I love seeing people push boundaries with their food, and this one definitely deserves its moment.”
From the research, almost a third (29 per cent) of sandwich lovers admit to tucking into them four to five times per week.
When it comes to quirky or unusual fillings, 30 per cent consider themselves adventurous, and 49 per cent would like to see more creative sarnie options in shops.
Of those who have tried something out of the ordinary between two slices of bread, 66 per cent enjoyed the experience.
Savoury sandwiches were popular with 74 per cent of respondents, although a fifth couldn’t choose between savoury and sweet if given the option, according to the OnePoll.com data.
Overall, for 26 per cent, social media has an impact on the food they choose to eat, with this rising to 57 per cent for Gen Z.
Of all respondents, 22 per cent admitted they were more likely to try a quirky food combo if they saw an influencer eating it.
And Gen Z are also driving this trend, as 46 per cent say they were likely to do this.
Kate Yateman-Smith, for Batchelors Super Noodles, which is launching the subs across all three London locations from 4th February, added: “This launch brings together two classics – noodles and the sandwich.
“And who better to do it with than Dom’s Subs and Big Zuu.
“As a cupboard staple, it’s always fun to see the creative ways people enjoy noodles.
“This sandwich puts a new twist on something familiar, reimagining it in an unexpected and flavourful way.”
